I just now changed to USB 2.0 to eliminate the plug and unplug HD. None of the games appeared on the Xbox game folder. I could select the "defaultexe" of each game from USB0/Content/000… game and play. I had learned that External USB 2.0 will not have this problem so I copies all files(content/0(x16 …means sixteen zeros)/games) from the USB 3.0 external HD to an USB 2.0 External HD. If not, the next time you power up the console, it will lock up at the green Xbox 360 screen. When you shut off the Console, you need to unplug the USB 3.0 external HD.
Click home, FS3, exit then the FS3 will reboot and sees your external USB 3.0 HD. The FS3 never recognized the USB 3.0! With USB 3.0 External hard drive, you have to wait until the FS3 booted up, then plug the USB 3.0 hard drive into to console' USB.
